Can you believe the holidays are here? I’m going to have a full house for Thanksgiving and I’m so excited! I’m already starting to get my home ready for guests, because next week I will be getting food prepped. I thought I would share with you what I do to get my house ready for visitors. Maybe some of these tips will help you too!
I love making my guests feel right at home. I try to have my guest room all set up to feel like a hotel. I decided it was time for new sheets. I love soft, cozy sheets, and of course, ruffles! I found the best sheets at Wal-Mart. They’re part of the Pioneer Woman brand.
Here is the link to the sheets.
I can’t recommend them enough. ( I’m not getting paid for this, just sharing something I love). I purchased the gray sheets for our guest bedroom. I loved them so much, I ordered a set for our Master bedroom. I ordered the gray color for both rooms. Not only do I make sure I have good sheets on the bed, but I leave a variety of different pillows on the bed. Fluffy, firm, soft, and flat. Everyone has a different type of pillow they like, so I have several to pick from. I have also have a blanket on the bed and a the comforter so they can be as warm, or cool as they want to be. I have a fan in the room for those who like a cool breeze, or like the soft noise of a fan.
Beside the bed, I have tissues and a tray with several goodies. A couple of bottles of water, some mints, snacks, magazines, the remote, a nice smelling candle, and the wi-fi password. That way, if we have gone to bed, and they can’t find any of those things, they are already in their room. Like I said, just like a hotel.
I also make sure our guest bathroom is all ready for our guests. I always keep a basket filled with anything they may have forgotten at home.
In the basket, I have hairspray, deodorant, make-up remover wipes, Q-Tips, disposable razors, contact cases, contact solution, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and even dry shampoo. Most of these items come from the sample section at the grocery store. Some of them, I buy full size, because I have boys who come home to visit and use some of these items a lot. They actually love that I have them, so they just bring their clothes and come for stay with us. It makes it so much easier.
This also helps a lot if you have guests who are flying. You know, they aren’t allowed to have too many liquid items on the airplane. This solves that problem for them.
I hope some of these tips help you get all ready for your guests during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Mellie is ready and waiting for everyone to arrive.
